Simple Guide: Guide to Discovery Age

Necron Lord: Since there's two version of Odd One's guides, I'll put it together into this page. The first part here, known as Guide to Discovery Age only details about the steps on Discovery Age. The Expert Guide refers to steps for the Modern and Advanced Age. I assume the Expert Guide is updated while the Simple Guide isn't.

Train Your 50 Workers As Quick As Possible

Only build 10 houses and build them one at a time as you farm to train your workers. Too many houses is too many mouths to feed so build them as you need them so you can continue to get free population, and get 50 workers asap. Do NOT build more than 10 houses for the first age or you will not get free population!!! You need free population in order to train new workers.

Explore Explore Explore!

You need land to build your barracks for your army later and now is the cheapest time to get it. Always leave 14 workers on research and send your men out in increments of 36. You really can't get too much land now because it's cheaper than in the 2nd and 3rd ages, although you do get significantly less for each explore.

Research In This Order:

  1. Higher Education (150 Knowledge)
  2. Electricity Production (50 Knowledge)
  3. Electricity Consumption (50 Knowledge)
  4. Construct University
  5. Seismic Surveying (100 Knowledge)
  6. Diplomacy (100 Knowledge)

This Way You Will Get Oil Wells Quicker!

Then save research to advance to the Modern Age (2,000 bulbs) and just explore while you wait, focus on building oil wells and staying under 100% power. Once you advance you can start spreading some more research around. Don't waste too much money on iron and wood deposit developments, focus on farms and building silo's (1 Silo = 100 space) so you can save just enough food so you can immediately train 200 workers in the start of the Modern Age.

Expert Guide: Guide to All Three Ages (Updated)

The Expert Guide details the steps for the Discovery, Modern, and Advanced Age. Recommended for people who wants to continue from the Simple Guide.

Discovery Age

If you are in the first age please follow this simple and easy guide.

Research in this order:

  1. Higher Education (150 Knowledge)
  2. Electricity Production (50 Knowledge)
  3. Build Power Plants
  4. Electricity Consumption (50 Knowledge)
  5. Construct University
  6. Seismic Surveying (100 Knowledge)
  7. Diplomacy (100 Knowledge)

Then save up for the 2,000 Knowledge needed to get to the Modern Age where your life will begin to get easier.

EXPLORE EXPLORE EXPLORE while you are waiting to get the 2,000 light bulbs. I know the other stuff seems sexy, but if you wait to research it until you advance it is all easier to get because you get to put 164 workers on research instead of only 14! It's worth it to only research the essentials in the Discovery Age.

Modern Age

  1. Get your 200 workers!
  2. DO NOT RESEARCH:
  • Plowing Techniques
  • Hand Saw
  • Wind Power
  • Solar Energy
  • Fusion
  1. Keep Exploring, build Iron and Gold Mines in addition to Oil Wells.
  2. Build double the amount of Refineries as Gold and Iron Mines developed for a 200 % bonus - focus mainly on Iron. (ex. if you have 200 Iron Mines built you need 400 Refineries.)</li
    • This will set you up for when you have the 10,000 Knowledge to advance. Advance with at least 75 Oil Wells and Cargo Warehouse Space so you can buy the Food to train 300 more workers as soon as you advance. Workers = 1,000 Food each in next age so be ready with the Oil to sell for funding.
  3. Build a lot of houses. Don't worry about putting workers on Food anymore. Iron and Oil are your bread and butter as they are more profitable to sell in market. How many houses you ask? No such thing as too many. To get population just buy 1 more food than number of workers you have (you have 200 workers so buy 201 food, the next tick you get 10% of your total population in regardless if you can feed them) Once trained, workers no longer need to eat.
  • DO NOT BUILD MILITARY YET - they will distract you from developing your land.
  • DO NOT RESEARCH WEAPON UPGRADES YET- focus on advancing first.

Advanced Age

DO NOT RESEARCH:
  • Plowing Techniques
  • Hand Saw
  • Wind Power
  • Solar Energy
  • Fusion
  • or any of the upgrades for military yet, you are almost up to weapon upgrades but hold off for a few.
  1. Get your 500 workers. Each worker costs 1,000 food, so use your Market to sell Oil and buy the Food.
REMEMBER: you should be using your workers like this:
  • 164 on Learning, as many on Oil as possible. The rest alternate between mining iron and exploring for more oil wells. Don't waste your workers on food, buy it in the market.
  1. Research Deep Space Reconnaissance, and Deep Space Exploration so you can start attacking off galaxy.
  2. Bulid your Orbital Habitat
    • The easiest way is to sell oil in the Market to get the resources you need, however with the Iron Mines and Refineries its easy to get the needed iron and just use your oil for the gold needed.
  3. Get your Mercantile Rank to 20 by buying and selling the minimum required trade worth of food back and forth. you lose some money doing this but in the long run the amount you will save is astronomical!!!
  4. Research Light Amplification and only build Crystal Power Plants from now on to maximize land useage and energy consuption
  5. Build your Deep Space Colony so you can finally get your 1,000 workers.
  6. Research Counter Intelligence to 5. Research Stealth Armor. Research Explosives. The troops we use are AA's and Jets. Both these units utilize these upgrades and they are the only ones needed.
  7. Start building an army and joining attacks. Spycraft. The real meat and potatoes of the game starts here. Now you can start using the Market to fund your empire and gain resources, explore, research to buy skill ranks in exploring, and developing your unused land for future growth.

REMEMBER: Land is the key to the game. You can only grow as big as your empire is so if you don't keep exploring you will have nowhere to house your armies when you are filthy rich from your marketing exploits.
