In UWars their are rounds that last about 2-3 months.

At the end of every round you have to join the next round by hitting join on the screen when you first log in. When you join the new round your empire is reset like when you first joined.

Once a round ends you will be able to join the next round once you login by clicking the Join link under the new round that is shown. Once you join your empire will be in the very beginning just like it was when you first joined. Usually [[Ticks]] do not start right away, but you can see the exact time they will start under the new round once you login.
